About

Don Hobaugh

Born and raised in Greensburg, PA, Don Hobaugh’s passion for woodworking began at the age of 14 as he watched his father and uncle refinish and reupholster furniture. After a 32-year career as a dedicated teacher in vocational education, he is now retired and pursuing his life-long dream of becoming a furniture designer and builder. He lives and works in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, where he creates his rustic furniture pieces in a shop that he built on his scenic wooded property. He spends a lot of time observing the beauty and variety of trees surrounding his home, and builds most of his furniture from local milled woods – including Wormy Oak, Red Oak, White Oak, Poplar, Walnut, Ash, Butternut, and Wormy Chestnut. He particularly loves finding and using wood from local barns to create his one-of-a-kind furniture pieces.
